The Northern Ireland Independent Retail Trade Association (NIIRTA) has welcomed DOE Minister Durkans announcement today of £600,000 towards addressing dereliction in Town Centres and urban areas. 

NIIRTA Chief Executive Glyn Roberts said:

Business today doesnt happen face to face as often as it used to. Conference calls and email chains are the most usual forms of communication, which makes it challenging to get to know your business partners. With so many people worldwide and in Northern Ireland now working in virtual teams, many business relationships are dependent on technology. 

The Northern Ireland Independent Retail Trade Association (NIIRTA) has welcomed the publication of the Apprenticeship blueprint by DEL Minister Farry this afternoon. 

Employment and Learning Minister, Dr Stephen Farry today outlined a blueprint for the future of apprenticeships in Northern Ireland. 

Addressing the Assembly during an oral statement, the Minister detailed 32 proposals contained within his Department’s Review of Apprenticeships Interim Report and officially launched a 12 week consultation on the future of apprenticeship training and provision in Northern Ireland.

Today sees the release of December data from the Ulster Bank Northern Ireland PMI®. The latest report produced for Ulster Bank by Markit pointed to a further solid expansion of business activity in the Northern Ireland private sector, linked to another strong rise in new orders. Increased workloads led to an accumulation of outstanding business and the fastest rise in employment since mid-2007. Meanwhile, both input costs and output prices increased at sharper rates than seen in November. 

Environment Minister Mark H Durkan today announced improvements to speed up the planning process in Northern Ireland.
