The Northern Ireland Independent Retail Trade Association (NIIRTA) has called upon Trade Union Unite to call off the proposed public transport strike on 6th May, citing the disruption it would cause to the local economy.
NIIRTA is seeking an urgent meeting with Unite to discuss the forthcoming one day strike and is meeting with Translink later this week.
NIIRTA Chief Executive Glyn Roberts said:
“This public transport strike, proposed for 6th May, is the very last thing Northern Ireland needs at this time as we move out of recession.
